New Zealand captain Kane Williamson said recently that he is
eager to face opponents India in the finals of ICC World Test Championship in June,
in a contest he referred to as ‘really exciting’. The inaugural Test championship,
slated to start on June 18 in Southampton, has seemingly kept Williamson up on
his toes.

The Kiwi skipper, in a recent video posted by ICC on
Twitter, is heard saying that when New Zealand play “against India, it has
always been a fantastic challenge and so it is really exciting to be playing
against them”.

“It’s really, really exciting to be involved in the final,
obviously to win it would be that much better”, he is further heard as saying.

New Zealand pacer Neil Wagner, on the other hand, acknowledged
the unpredictable character of the English wicket, but also explored possibilities
of the pitch becoming flat.

“(English) Conditions can change throughout and so I am not
getting carried away too much, trying to control the controllables”, Wagner
said.

Indian batsman Hanuma Vihari, who is currently playing for
English County side Warwickshire, said it would be a ‘great feeling’ to play
for India in the World Test Championship finals.

While the India team is set to leave for UK on June 2, New Zealand,
on the same date, will be starting a short, two-test series against England
before going into the finals.
