A video clip of a landslide in Sangla, in the Kinnaur district of Himachal Pradesh showing big boulders of rocks breaking off a mountain top and rolling down into the valley below, was released on social media on Sunday. 

The footage released by Doordarshan news and news agency ANI shows that several rocks and heavy debris rolls down into the valley below leading a bridge to collapse and several houses were quashed by heavy boulders. Watch the video here.

At least nine tourists were reportedly killed and three others were injured in multiple landslides that took place on Sunday in Himachal Pradesh’s Kinnaur district. The tourists were travelling in a tempo that was quashed by heavy boulders killing eight of 11 tourists, PTI reported.

The tourists were reportedly heading to Chitkul, a popular tourists spot in the Kinnaur district of Himachal, about 245 km from Shimla.

Himachal Pradesh’s Chief secretary Anil Khachi confirmed the nine deaths along with damage to the Batseri bridge and a 200-meter highway patch.

Several incidents of landslides following heavy rains and floods are being constantly reported from various parts of the country. Recently,  at least 36 people died in Maharashtra‘s Raigad district after landslides took place at Talai village in the coastal district as the region was pounded by heavy rains.  

Amid the rain disasters in
parts of Maharashtra, Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray on Sunday announed that a
separate force on the lines of the NDRF will be set up in all districts of the
state and the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) will also be strengthened.

The
number of deaths due to flooding, landslides and other rain-related incidents
in parts of Maharashtra reached 129 on Sunday with one more casualty reported
in the last 24 hours, while 100 people were missing after the monsoon fury, the
state government said.
