Bharatiya Janata Party’s Uttar Pradesh spokesperson Salabh Mani Tripathi, on Thursday, shared a video of a busy road of Mumbai where he claimed ‘derogatory posters’ of French President Emmanuel Macron were posted.
The Uttar Pradesh spokesperson condemned the Maharashtra state government, rendering a stinging critic of the Shiv Seva- NCP-Congress coalition at the helm in the state.
Launching an attack on Congress and former ally Shiv Sena, he followed his video with a caption “everything will be remembered,” and accused the Shiv Sena of siding with “barbaric Islamic terrorists.”
The road in question here is a busy junction from South Mumbai, near the Bhendi Bazaar area, as per a NDTV report. Referred to as the Mohammed Ali Road, and located under JJ Flyover a few hundred posters of the French President Emmanuel Macron were spotted in the area by pedestrians.
Macron has drawn some flak over his handling of free speech versus religious extremism in his country and has been condemned by leaders of the Arab world.
The posters were removed after the Pydhonie police received information on the issue, reported NDTV quoting Mumbai Police spokesperson S Chaityana.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi had on Thursday condemned the terrorist attack that took place in a church in Nice, France. He had stated that India stands with France in its fight against terrorism.
The terrorist attack on Thursday was the second such attack in France after teacher Samuel Paty was beheaded earlier in the month over showing cartoons of Prophet Mohammed in class.
