Travel
restrictions earlier issued by the Centre for travellers arriving from the
United Kingdom to India have now been revoked. Guidelines
released on February 17 this year will now apply to all people travelling to India from the UK.

The Ministry of Health said on October 13 in a new order that, “Revised guidelines for
UK nationals arriving in India issued on October 1, 2021, stand withdrawn, and
earlier guidelines on international arrival dated February 17, 2021, shall be
applicable for those arriving in India from the UK”.

On October
1, the centre decided to impose mutual travel restrictions, including mandatory
14 days quarantine of travellers from the UK. Strict rules were in place from
October 4 for all UK citizens arriving in the country, regardless of where they
were vaccinated.

India took
this decision after the UK accepted the Covishield vaccine manufactured by the
Serum Institute of India but maintained a ten-day quarantine period for fully
vaccinated travellers from India.

However, on
October 7, the UK decided to end the quarantine of all Indian travellers completely
vaccinated with Covishield or another vaccine known to the UK government. So
now, India has again relaxed the strict restriction it had set.

The Department of Home Affairs has approved the gradual recommencement of
international travel beginning on October 15, 2021 and tourists
and e-visas are granted only one entry per month. From November
15, all foreign nationals on new tourist visas are allowed
to enter Asian country once reviewing the
prevailing COVID-19 tips as declared by the Department
of Health and Family Welfare.

Recently,
the Indian High Commission in Dhaka, Bangladesh tweeted that the
frequency of flights between India and Bangladesh will increase from October
15, 2021 as part of the Air Bubble arrangement.
