Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday extended his greetings to the country on the occasion of Dhantertas. 

Taking to Twitter, PM Modi said, “Many congratulations to all of you on Dhanteras. May Lord Dhanvantari bring happiness, prosperity, good luck and good health in everyone’s life.”

Meanwhile, Union Minister for Law and Justice Ravi Shankar Prasad also posted his greetings on social media. 

“On the auspicious occasion of Dhanteras, may Goddess Lakshmi bless you with good health, wealth & prosperity,” Prasad tweeted. 

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh wrote, “Hearty greetings to all of you on the auspicious occasion of Dhanteras. I pray to Lord Dhanvantari that you and your whole family get happiness, prosperity and good health.”

Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan also extended his festive wishes to the country, saying, “Celebrate this festival of lamps in such a way that every heart is happy, everyone’s lights are bright! #HappyDhanteras #HappyDiwali.”

Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra said, “Wishing you all the very best on the occasion of #Dhanteras. May Goddess Lakshmi bless you all.

Stay healthy. Stay happy. Stay prosperous.”

Also known as Dhantrayodashi, it is dedicated to the goddess of wealth and prosperity, Goddess Lakshmi, and is considered auspicious for buying gold and silver jewellery.

Although many people observed the festival on Thursday, many are celebrating the festival on Friday.
