Hardik Pandya and Virat Kohli kept urging the crowd at Adelaide Oval to keep cheering for India in the second innings. Rohit Sharma and co, after scoring 168 runs in the first innings, were put under pressure by England openers Jos Buttler and Alex Hales in the powerplay. England were 63/0 after the first six overs.

India were down. The English batters were smashing them all around the park and the cheers, from the crowd, had gone down. Pandya and Kohli, who played crucial roles for the Men in Blue in the first innings, asked the fans to not simmer down the cheers. 

The two players clapped and urged fans to pick up.

The English openers, Jos Buttler and Alex Hales, put on a fantastic stand of over 170 runs in only 16 overs, catapulting their team to the finals. In the second semifinal of the T20 World Cup, they were chasing a 169-run target set by India at the Adelaide Oval. Jos Buttler won the toss and chose to bat against India in the match at the Adelaide Oval.

India had scored 168-6 after 20 overs. Virat Kohli anchored one end for the majority of those 20 overs with a fluent, risk-free innings, reaching 50 off 39 balls before being caught by Adil Rashid off a Chris Jordan delivery in the 18th over.

Then, when it was most needed, Indian allrounder Hardik Pandya scored his first half-century of the T20 World Cup 2022. Pandya scored 63 runs in 33 balls at a strike rate of 190, with four fours and five sixes. India scored 32 in the final two overs and 68 in the final five. Pandya was out on the last ball of India’s innings to a rare hit wicket.

In yet another crucial game, KL Rahul gave way his wicket early, leaving Rohit and Kohli to make repairs. The duo managed to keep the game going without making England sweat. However, a few wickets in the middle overs, including Suryakumar Yadav’s, turned the match in England’s favour.
