Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the nation on the occasion of 74th Independence Day from the ramparts Red Fort in New Delhi on Saturday.

The PM started his 7th Independence Day speech by paying special tribute to the COVID-19 warriors, health workers, who are fighting the pandemic on the frontline. He also extended his condolences to families that have lost loved ones in this battle against coronavirus. 

The PM said “We are going through a unique situation because of coronavirus pandemic and I hail all the corona warriors.”

PM Modi added that the country will defeat coronavirus together.

Assuring the nation that an anti-COVID vaccine will soon be available for the COVID-19 patients, the PM said that at present three candidate vaccines are in different phases. “As soon as scientists will give their approval, large scale production of vaccine will start. We are fully equipped to meet the requirement of vaccine doses in the country,” said the Prime Minister. 

The PM said, “We’re going through distinct times. I can’t see young children in front of me today (at Red Fort). Corona has stopped everyone. In these times of COVID, Corona warriors have lived the mantra of ‘Seva Parmo Dharma’ and served the people of India. I express my gratitude to them.”

Over 1,500 people who recovered from COVID-19, “coronavirus winner” attend the function as a symbol of the citizens’ determination to fight the pandemic.
