India on Sunday witnessed a jump of nearly 90% daily COVID-19 cases, registering 2,183 new coronavirus infections as compared to 1,150 cases that were reported the previous day.
According to the Union Health Ministry data updated on Monday, with the addition of 2,183, India’s total tally of COVID-19 cases has increased to 4,30,44,280.
The death toll has climbed to 5,21,965 with 214 fresh fatalities.

Meanwhile, the number of active cases has declined to 11,542 and comprises 0.03% of the total infections. The national COVID-19 recovery rate remained at 98.76%.

The number of people who have recovered from the disease surged to 4,25,10,773, while the case fatality rate was recorded as 1.21%.
National capital Delhi has been witnessing an upward trend in daily COVID-19 cases positivity rate in the last few days. Delhi reported 517 cases on Sunday, which is 56 more than the previous day. The positivity rate is 4.21% while no death was reported. With these new cases, Delhi’s total infection tally has risen to 18,68,550. The death toll stands at 26,160.

Several schools in Delhi, Noida, and Ghaziabad reported COVID cases in the last few days, prompting the government to issue guidelines for those who are sending their children to school. The infections in school surged after offline classes were completely opened following a two-year gap due to the coronavirus pandemic.
“If any COVID case is noticed or reported to the school authority the same must be intimated to the Directorate of Education immediately and the concerned wing of the school or the school as a whole as the case may be, must be closed down for time being,” the new advisory stated.
