The BrahMos supersonic cruise missile was successfully test-launched by India on Wednesday, news agency ANI reported.

The extended range BrahMos supersonic cruise missile was test-fired off the coast of Odisha’s Balasore on Wednesday.

India successfully test-fired the BrahMos supersonic cruise missile which can assail targets at a range of over 400 kilometres. The test was carried out under the PJ-10 protect of Defence Research and Development Organisation under which the missile was launched with an indigenous booster reported ANI. 

The missile can hit targets at a range of more than 400 kilometres and has been fitted with new indigenous booster and airframe, as per ANI report.

The DRDO chairman Dr G S Satheesh Reddy said that the launch of the missile will lead to adding more indigenous content in the missile.

The first test to determine the extended range of Brahmos Missile was conducted in March 2017. 

The missile can be launched from submarine, ships, aircraft and land, it was originally a joint venture between Russian federations NPO Mashinostroyeniya and India’s Defence Research and Development Organisation.
