India has retained the right to conduct the 2021 T20 World Cup and will conduct the tournament in 2021, and Australia will conduct the 2022 edition of the T20 World Cup the ICC stated on Friday. The tournament to be conducted in 2022 is the same event that was postponed from 2020.

ICC in its press released issued on Friday stated, “The International Cricket Council (ICC) today confirmed that the T20 World Cup 2020 that was postponed due to COVID-19 will be held in Australia in 2022. India will host the T20 World Cup 2021 as planned.”

Previously, the International Cricket Council(ICC) had decided to postpone the T20 World Cup this year, which was scheduled to take place between October 18 to November 15, due to outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic in Australia.

The 2020 women’s ODI World Cup has also been postponed to March 2022 due to COVID-19 pandemic according to ICC officials.

The global body also confirmed that next year’s women’s ODI World Cup in New Zealand has been postponed until February-March 2022 because of the impact the pandemic has had on cricket globally.
