Whether you are in a demanding job, busy taking care of aging parents, or running after growing, there are chances that you put your health aside when you turn 40. But do you know this number could be the milestone year of your life if you adopt a few basic lifestyle habits, say doctors.
Dr.Neha Khandelwal, Senior Consultant at Madhukar Rainbow Children’s Hospital, New Delhi says that as you enter your 40s, your body requires few habits to be put into practice for example not taking refined sugars, refined food, and processed foods.
“…so that we can maintain good and acceptable body weight to look good and feel good. Apart from these, maintaining a good water intake is important. Having a daily exercise routine is also very important. Exercise say about four to five times a week at least thirty minutes a day is a fair amount of exercise to keep us in good shape and good health,” she told Opoyi.
She also says that she has recently crossed the big 40 landmarks in her life and the new phase is fun.
“I as a doctor see it as a beginning of a new era or perhaps the very interesting phase of my life because at the age of 40 I feel that as a doctor I can understand the mindset, the language, the lifestyle, and the desires of my young patients and at the same as I step towards my middle age, I feel that my advice to them would be more filled with little more wisdom and based on little more experience. I think 40 is the perfect combination which stands in between youth and middle-aged so happy 40 to all those women all over,” she added.
Dr. Shivani Sabharwal, Medical Director of Madhukar Rainbow Children’s Hospital, wishes all the women a happy women’s day and quotes the famous saying that age is just a number.
“After crossing the milestone of 30 or 40 and facing so many hurdles in your life, a woman becomes much more wise, mature, confident, liberal, and fair and as I cross 40 I started loving myself, and surprisingly everything has started falling into place.
“However, mental and physical stamina are paramount to justifying your roles so this is the time when we should start taking charge of our life. Be comfortable with your skin and prepare your body for future challenges. My mantra for long life is to eat healthy food and exercise daily. Also, spend ample time with family and not forget to love yourself, go and chase your dreams,” she told Opoyi.
