The Kolkata Knight Riders, on Saturday, signed Gurkeerat Singh Mann as a replacement for Rinku Singh, who will be unavailable for the whole of Indian Premier League season 14 due to a knee injury.

Having made his IPL debut in 2017, Rinku has played a total of 11 Indian Premier League (IPL) games. Before this, Gurkeerat played for the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the last season of the cash-rich league. He was released by the Bangalore-based franchise before the IPL 2021 auction.

The Kolkata-based franchise acquired the services of the right-handed batsman for his base price of Rs 50 lakh.

Since Gautam Gambhir’s departure from the team, KKR’s performance has not been up to the mark. After experimenting with Dinesh Karthik, KKR handed over the captaincy to Eoin Morgan and he is hopeful of producing better results this season.

Going in the auction, KKR had a purse of Rs.10.75 crore, with a maximum of eight slots to fill; two of which could be foreign players.

After adding the likes of Harbhajan Singh and Shakib al Hasan, KKR would be aiming to bring back home the elusive IPL title.
