Ahead of the toss on Saturday, Chennai Super Kings allrounder Sam Curran while talking to a broadcaster said that his mother will be nervous watching the match, as he would be against brother Tom Curran, who is making his debut for the Delhi Capitals.

Tom- the elder Curran brother – was picked by the Delhi Capitals for a whopping Rs 5.25 crore in the 2021 auctions. The 26-year-old played for Rajasthan Royals last year and dismissed nine batsmen in 11 games at an economy of over 11.30 rpo. Deemed as the future of English cricket – at least in the shortest format – Tom couldn’t justify his price tag in 2020 as he managed to average only 26.50 with the bat.

However, with his capability to dent the opposition with the bat, ball and with some athletic running on the field, Tom Curran found a place in Ricky Ponting’s list this season.

“Nice to be here for the one-day series against India a couple of weeks back and had a bit of time off. The bubble has been tough, but it’s a new world we live in. I know Mum will be nervous tonight (on going up against his brother Tom Curran). Very different to playing the last time here in India,” Sam Curran told the host broadcaster. referring to his brother’s debut for a new IPL side.

Tom Curran has played 28 T20Is, picking 26 wickets at an economy rate of 9.31 rpo. He and Chris Woakes made debut for the Capitals on Saturday.
