“This
is one of the biggest moments of my life, and I’m happy that all the
support staff and all my teammates supported me even when I wasn’t playing,” said batsman Rishabh Pant, who saved the day in Brisbane on Tuesday by achieving India’s
breathtaking win in the series-deciding game against Australia.

Pant, who despite a neck injury successfully took the intimidating attack by
Australian bowlers, scored an unbeaten 89-run knock that powered India to a 2-1
Test series victory.

“It’s
been more like a dream series. The team management always supported and showed
confidence in me, they called me a match-winner and it gave me the motivation to win
the match for the team. I keep thinking every day that I want to win matches
for India, and I did it today,” Pant added.

On
being asked about the cricket pitch that had cracks all over, Pant stated that
like any other fifth day pitch, the ball was being manipulated and turning a bit
and a player had to be disciplined to aim a decent shot.

Among other star players of team India were Cheteshwar Pujara and Shubman Gill. Pujara first played the silent role in his partnership with Shubman Gill, who scored 91. He then went into second gear and stitched crucial partnerships with skipper Ajinkya Rahane (24) and Rishabh Pant.

While Pujara and Gill had set up the premise, it was important for someone to come in and deliver the killer blow. Rishabh Pant channelled his inner ‘Mad Max’ to scare the daylights out of the Australians with his breathtaking strokeplay.

On Tuesday, India pulled off a record run-chase in a thrilling final session to breach the Gabba fortress and hand Australia a three-wicket defeat to clinch the four-match Test series 2-1.
