Kangana Ranaut, in a tweet, hit back at Jaya Bachchan when the Rajya Sabha member criticised Lok Sabha MP Ravi Kishan for ‘speaking against the entertainment industry’.

“Jaya ji would you say the same thing if in my place it was your daughter Shweta beaten, drugged and molested as a teenage, would you say the same thing if Abhieshek complained about bullying and harassment constantly and found hanging one day? Show compassion for us also,” Kangana tweeted.

Earlier, Jaya Bachchan slammed Gorakhpur MP Ravi Kishan over his comments on the drug culture in the entertainment industry. The Samajwadi Party member during the Monsoon session of the Parliament on Tuesday said that,“I was really embarrassed and ashamed that yesterday (September 14) one of our members in the Lok Sabha, who is from the industry, spoke. I am not taking names. It is a shame,” she said.

Filmmakers and actors reacted to the tweet backing Jaya Bachchan’s stand on Twitter.

Taapsee Pannu tweeted, “For we have always stood by the initiatives, causes and awareness campaigns. It’s time for payback. Hitting the nail on its head and how ! 👏🏼 yet again a woman from the industry spoke up. #Respect”

Jaya Bachchan had claimed that the members of the entertainment industry were suffering due to continuous flogging.

“People in the entertainment industry are being flogged by social media. People who made their names in the industry have called it a gutter. I completely disagree. I hope that the government tells such people not to use this kind of language,” she had said.
