KBC 13 Offline Quiz (September 12, 2021): Which one is the largest in size among the subspecies of Tiger?

Answer: Amur Tiger

The Amur
tiger, often known as the Siberian tiger, is the world’s biggest cat. It is a
massively built mammal with a rounded head, muscular body, and powerful arms,
particularly the forearm and shoulder, allowing it to overcome prey larger than
it. The tail is generally around half the length of the head and body. Ears are
rounded and tiny. The forequarters and skulls of older males are enormous. The
muzzle is wider than that of other tiger species, and the canine teeth are big.
The summer coat is a golden yellow colour and is rather short and silky. The
winter coat has a more pale golden colour and is quite thick and lengthy.

The
stripes are brown and less in number than those found on other tiger species.
Deer, wild pig, and fish are
all part of the Amur tiger’s diet. If its main food isn’t available, it eats
carrion, which includes birds, small animals, turtles, and insects. They also
consume grass, cedar nuts, fruits, and berries throughout the summer.River
valleys with reeds and shrubs, mountain taiga, and mixed forests crossed by
rivers with rock outcroppings. They live at elevations of up to 1200 m in the
summer and lower altitudes in the winter.
