Leaders of Israel, Russia and Bangladesh have extended their greetings to their Indian counterparts on the occasion of India’s 72nd Republic Day on Tuesday. Extending her “warm wishes and greetings,” Bangladesh’s Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said the two nations are “working closely to take our relations to a newer height,” ANI reported.

Such work includes, “celebration of the birth anniversary of our Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, 50 years of Bangladesh’s Independence as well as well as that of diplomatic relations between our two countries,” the statement issued by Hasina read.

A 125-member tri-service contingent of Bangladesh Armed Forced participated in the Republic Day parade. This year marks 50 years of the 1971 Indo-Pak war in which East Pakistan seceded from the west and emerged as a free nation, named Bangladesh.

Russian President Vladimir Putin extended his greetings to President Ram Nath Kovind and Prime Minister Narendra Modi. 

“We highly value the relations of privileged strategic partnership between our states,” Kremlin said in a statement.

“I am confident that the future expansion of the entire range of constructive Russian-Indian ties meets the interests of our friendly peoples and is in line with the goals of strengthening international stability and security,” the statement further added.

Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu too greeted his Indian counterpart on Republic Day. 

“To my great friend Prime Minister @NarendraModi – Congratulations to you and the people of India on your 72nd #RepublicDay. Our friendship grows from year to year,” Netanyahu tweeted, along with a photograph of Modi and himself, and the emoticons of handshake and the Indian, Israeli flags.

Sri Lanka’s PM Mahinda Rajapaksa too extended his greetings to the Indian PM and the people of India. “May you go from strength to strength as a nation, & be victorious in every challenge faced,” he tweeted.

India’s Republic Day marks the day when the country’s Constitution came into force in 1950.
