In 2007, the BCCI founded the Indian Premier League, a professional T20 cricket league. It takes place every year between March and May.

The IPL was the first sporting event in the world to be streamed live on YouTube in 2010. According to Duff & Phelps, the IPL’s brand value in 2019 was Rs 47,500 crore (US$6.3 billion).

According to the BCCI, the 2015 IPL season contributed US$150 million to the Indian economy’s GDP. Financial experts estimated the IPL to be worth $4.16 billion in 2016, but that figure climbed to $5.3 billion in 2017 and $6.13 billion in 2018.

Signing a new television agreement with Star India Private Limited, according to Duff & Phelps research, was one of the contributing elements to the Indian Premier League’s quick development in value.

The IPL was telecasted on regional channels in eight languages, rather than the previous contract, which limited transmissions to sports networks with English language commentary, which attracted more people.
