The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has taken over the probe into Mansukh Hiren’s death from the Maharashtra Anti-terrorism squad, ANI reported, quoting an official source. 

Hiren was the owner of the abandoned car that was found with explosives and gelatin sticks outside Reliance Industries Limited Chairman Mukesh Ambani’s Mumbai residence on February 25. A week after the incident, Hiren’s body was found at Retibunder, Mumbra.

“The body of one Mansukh Hiren whose car was found outside Mukesh Ambani’s residence (with gelatin inside it), (he) died by suicide by jumping into Kalwa creek. Accidental Death Report (ADR) registered,” Thane DCP told ANI after the body was recovered.

Earlier this week, Sachin Hindurao Waze, a Mumbai police officer, was arrested in connection with the case.
