Mohan Sanjibhai Delkar, Independent MP from Dadra and Nagar Haveli, was found dead in a hotel in south Mumbai’s Marine Drive on Monday, PTI reported, quoting a police official.
He is believed to have died by suicide and an accidental death report is being registered based on preliminary information.
Delkar reportedly died by hanging, Times of India reported, quoting a police officer. His driver, who was staying in the same hotel, allegedly knocked the door several times to no response. He then entered the room from the other side and found him hanging, the outlet reported, quoting the officer.
Reports also stated that a suicide note in Gujarati was also found beside the body. The note was allegedly six pages long note and had the names of 40 people.
Delkar was elected to the 17th Lok Sabha in May 2019. He is survived by his wife and two children.
