Tamil Nadu batter Narayan Jagadeesan has created history with his performance at the Vijay Hazare Trophy match against Arunachal Pradesh by scoring what became his fifth consecutive century in List-A matches. This is the first time ever any batter has achieved this milestone in world cricket.
This is not the only record the 26-year-old has broken with his 277-run innings against Arunachal Pradesh. Jagadeesan now holds the record for the highest number of centuries in List-A cricket, and also the highest score by a batter in a List-A match.
Kumar Sangakkara, Alviro Petersen, and Devdutt Padikkal earlier held the record for the most consecutive List-A tons with four each.

The record for the highest score in a List-A match till date was held by Alistair Brown, who scored 268 for Surrey against Glamorgan in 2002. Rohit Sharma came close to breaking the record with his 264 against Sri Lanka in 2014.
Jagadeesan was in impeccable in the match against Arunachal Pradesh. He reached his century within 76 deliveries, but then entered an unstoppable mode by reaching 200 in just 38 more deliveries. By reaching 200 off 114 balls, he also made the fastest ever double ton in List A history.
Jagadeesan’s opening wicket partnership of 416 with B Sai Sudharsan, who made 154 (102 balls, 19 fours, 2 six) is also a record for the highest partnership for any wicket in List ‘A’ cricket.

Jagadeesan’s tons in the ongoing Hazare Trophy tournament have come against Haryana, Chhattisgarh, Andhra and Goa apart from Monday’s mammoth 277 against Arunachal.
The promising Tamil Nadu batter began his first-class career in 2016, and in his very first game, he was adjudged the player of the match. In the same year, he made his debuts in the T20 and First Class formats for Tamil Nadu.
Jagadeesan’s talents were spotted by Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Chennai Super Kings, who added him to their squad in 2018. The Tamil Nadu ‘keeper-batter was recently released by CSK ahead of the IPL auction next month.
