Nitish Kumar-led alliance won the motion of confidence by voice vote as the opposition BJP staged a walkout in the Bihar assembly.

Nitish Kumar stated during the discussion on the motion of confidence that the Central government is claiming credit for state government projects. He claimed that Har Ghar Jal was a plan of the state administration. “The scheme for roads in rural areas was launched under Atal Bihari Vajpayee govt. You are kids, please learn. This govt at centre does not deserve credit for this,” he said.

Earlier in the Assembly, Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav claimed that the BJP had three sons-in-law: the ED, the CBI, and IT. He stated that the BJP will deploy these agencies against individuals who will not be humbled down or bought over. He went on to say that their collaboration (with Nitish) would be extremely beneficial.

“This will be a long inning.” He said. Meanwhile,  BJP leader Tarkishor Prasad said the JD(U) could never win any polls on its own in the state. Nitish only changes his Deputy and wants to remain CM,” Yadav said.

During the debate, Tarakishore Prasad of the BJP slammed Nitish Kumar, stating he had lost “political credibility.”

Kumar’s “personal ambition to become Prime Minister despite not having the ability to become Chief Minister on his own steam,” the former Deputy Chief Minister mocked.

The assembly session began with BJP Speaker Vijay Kumar Sinha stepping down in response to a no-confidence petition filed against him shortly after the Grand Alliance took control. The floor examination was presided over by Janata Dal-Secular (United) Deputy Speaker Maheshwar Hazari.
