Tony Khan, the founder and co-owner of professional wrestling promotion All Elite Wrestling (AEW) has announced on Twitter the death of Jay Brisco, the Ring of Honor (ROH) wrestler, at the age of 38.

ROH was an independent wrestling promotion before being sold to AEW. In his tweet, Khan said, “Sadly, Jamin Pugh has passed away. Known to fans as Jay Briscoe, he was a star in ROH for over 20 years, from the first show until today. Jay and his brother Mark dominated ROH, reigning as champions to this day. We’ll do whatever we can to support his family. Rest In Peace Jamin”.

Who is Tony Khan?

Tony Khan, born on October 10, 1982, is a 40-year-old American businessman who is involved in a number of sports including professional wrestling, soccer and American football. He is the son of Pakistani-American business Shahid Khan and Ann Carlson.

Khan, born in Urbana–Champaign, Illinois, went to University Laboratory High School and later to the  University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, from where he obtained an undergraduate degree in finance.

His father is the owner of the Premier League club Fulham and the NFL side Jacksonville Jaguars. Tony Khan is involved with both organisations in various capacities.

Khan began AEW in 2018, which attracted a number of top talents like CM Punk and Cody Rhodes, and quickly went on to become the second-biggest wrestling promotion in the world behind WWE.

Claims have surfaced that Khan and his father are interested in purchasing WWE, which Vince McMahon is apparently ready to sell.

The Wrestling Observer Newsletter has anointed Khan 2019 to 2021’s Promoter of the Year. The same publication has also regarded him as the Best Booker of 2020-21.
