Ola’s chairman and group CEO Bhavish Aggarwal on Monday announced to employ over 10,000 women in company’s manufacturing plant Ola Futurefactory in Tamil Nadu. He said the plant will be run entirely by women. The CEO added that it will be the ‘largest all-women factory in the world’. He posted a video on Twitter and wrote, Aatmanirbhar Bharat requires Aatmanirbhar women! Proud to share that the Ola Futurefactory will be run ENTIRELY by women, 10,000+ at full scale! Ola witnesses record-breaking registrations for e-scooters

Ola Futurefactory is spread over across 500 acres and Ola had announced a Rs 2,400-crore investment last year for setting up its first electric scooter factory in Tamil Nadu.

In the first phase, the company would start with 10 lakh annual production capacity and then scale it up to 20 lakh, in line with market demand.

Ola Electric had claimed that its plant would have an annual capacity of one crore units, “which is 15% of the world’s entire total two-wheeler production”.

Aggarwal said that by employing and empowering women, the company aims to improve improve their lives and that of the whole community.

Last week, Ola Electric had to postpone the sale of its electric scooter by a week after facing “technical difficulties”.

Last month, Ola launched the Ola S1 electric scooter in two variants, including S1 and S1 Pro. It is priced between Rs 99,999 and Rs 1,29,999, respectively.

Ola, an Indian multinational ridesharing company, was started by in 2010 by Bhavesh Aggarwal in Bengaluru.

In January 2018, the company entered into overseas market, starting services in Australia and New Zealand. In March 2019, the company started its operations in the United Kingdom, introducing auto rickshaws in UK.
