Engineer-turned-actor Vicky Kaushal, who predominantly works in Hindi films, was born on May 16, 1988 in Mumbai. He first started as an assistant director on ‘Gangs of Wasseypur’ and rose to fame after his award-winning film ‘Masaan’. 

The 33-year-old actor has received prestigious awards, including a Filmfare Award and a National Award for best actor. He was born to Sham Kaushal, an action director. Though, Kaushal was connected to the world of films, he got his first breakthrough after a lot of struggle.

Masaan: The drama film was released in 2015, directed by Neeraj Ghaywan. The movie was screened in Un Certain Regard section of the Cannes Film Festival in 2015. The star cast includes Vicky Kaushal, Richa Chadha, Shweta Tripathi and Sanjay Mishra. 

Raazi: A 2018 thriller film, directed by Meghna Gulzar and produced by Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions and Junglee Pictures. The movie received 5 awards in the 64th Filmfare Awards and emerged as a huge success. Kaushal and Alia Bhatt worked in the film as lead cast.

Uri: The movie was an Indian military action film, which was released in January 2019. The plot is about Indian military’s retaliation to the Uri attack that took place in 2016. Kaushal won the best actor category National award for the film. 

Sanju: A biopic of Indian actor Sanjay Dutt, in which Kaushal played the role Dutt’s best friend. Kaushal received the Filmfare award for best supporting actor for his work in ‘Sanju’. The movie released in June 2018 and was directed by award-winning filmmaker Rajkumar Hirani.

Manmarziyaan: The Indian romantic-drama film got released in September 2018. The film was directed by Anurag Kashyap and stars Vicky Kaushal, Taapsee Pannu and Abhishek Bachchan. ‘Manmarziyaan’ was well received in the box office and emerged as a huge success.
