Prime
Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday said that the country’s youth is a “can-do
generation” which can achieve every goal, adding that he has full faith in them.

Addressing
the nation on the 75th Independence Day from the ramparts of the Red
Fort, PM Modi said, “This is a can-do generation and it can achieve every goal.”

He further
stated that he is not a soothsayer, but he believes in action and that he has
full faith in the sisters, daughters, farmers and the professionals of the
country. He said that nothing can stop young Indians from driving the
country’s growth and fulfilling the country’s dreams and aspirations in the 21st
century.

“Our
strength is our vitality, our strength is our solidarity. Our life force is the
spirit of nation first.”

The Prime
Minister said that every person must work together and take responsibility of
the resolutions the country has taken in order for them to be achieved.

He also
cited a poem – “Yehi samay hai, sahi samay hai,” (Now is the time, the right
time) – that stressed on making the most of current times.

The Prime
Minister covered wide-ranging topics in his 90-minute speech, including paying
tributes to freedom fighters, Olympic athletes, doctors and nurses and others, as
well as announcing a number of ambitious projects, including a Rs 100-lakh crore
Pradhan Mantri Gati Shakti’ infrastructure initiative.

He also set
a goal for the country to become energy independent by the year 2047, announcing
the ‘National Hydrogen Mission’ through which India will aim to become the new
global hub of green hydrogen.

He also said
that the next 25 years for the country will be “Amrit Kaal“, when the
nation has to transform itself to work towards leading the world.

“A
time comes in the development journey of every country when that nation defines
itself from a new end, when it takes itself forward with new resolutions.
Today, that time has come in India’s development journey,” the prime
minister said.
