India women’s cricket team opener Punam Raut scored her 15th Women’s One-day International fifty on Friday during a match against South Africa at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium, Lucknow.

En route to her calculated fifty, she hit six boundaries and enjoyed a healthy strike rate of 61.73. It was Smirti Mandhana (25) and Raut, who steadied the Indian innings after early twin strikes.

However, despite Mandhana’s dismissal, Raut kept the runs coming for her team along with veteran Mithali Raj.

Having made her ODI debut in 2009 against the West Indies women, it was no looking back for her. Soon, she cemented her place in the squad in the role of an opener, a role which she has aced time and again.

A part-time bowler, Raut chips in with imporant sclaps in crucial mooments of the games.

In her 69-game career, Raut has managed to get 2,076* runs under her belt, with the highest being 109*. With two centuries and 14 fifties to her name, Raut has a solid strike rate of 57.09.

In the last two ODIs against South Africa, she scored 10 in the first ODI and an unbeaten 62 in the following match. Although during India’s tour of the West Indies, she accumulated a total of 123 runs.

Till now, she has represented Indian Green Women, India Women, Mumbai Women, Trailblazers and West Zone Women.
