Defence minister Rajnath Singh attended the foundation laying ceremony of an armaments manufacturing unit in Lucknow on Saturday, November 13, 2021. Lucknow is also the Lok Sabha constituency of Rajnath Singh. This will prove to be a major milestone in India’s road to self-reliance in the defence sector, said the minister.

Rajnath Singh congratulated all the persons associated with the project.

The event was organized at the Kanpur Road complex of PTC Industries, an engineering components manufacturing group.

Rajnath Singh spoke about the importance of the private sector in manufacturing defence equipment. Noting several steps taken by the Narendra Modi-led BJP government at the Centre, he added that this was the vision of former PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee, which this government was fulfilling.

The defence minister said  demand for military equipment had been increasing worldwide due to ever-evolving security challenges and India was becoming a centre for military exports.

Rajnath Singh is on a three-day visit to Lucknow during which he will hold meetings with chief minister Yogi Adityanath regarding the Uttar Pradesh Defence Industrial Corridor.

Rajnath Singh also reviewed  development projects, attended several inaugurations, and presented a statue of Lucknow’s former mayor Akhilesh Das at Babu Banarasi Das University. The defence minister will also hold talks with party cadres. He also attended a programme organized by the Mamta Charitable Trust and inaugurated a new branch of St. Joseph school.

He will attend the Silver Jubilee celebrations of the All India Ex-Servicemen Services Council at Telibagh on Sunday, November 14, 2021.

Rajnath Singh arrived at the Lucknow airport on Friday at 10.30 am and will leave for Delhi on Sunday around 4.20 pm.

Rajnath Singh is a Member of Parliament from Lucknow, serving as the defence minister of India. He is also the Deputy Leader of the House in the Lok Sabha.
