Bollywood legend Amitabh Bachchan’s
granddaughter Navya Naveli Nanda on Wednesday responded strongly to Uttarakhand
Chief Minister Tirath Singh Rawat’s comment about women wearing ripped jeans
and their effect on society. Taking to Instagram, Naveli fired away, expressing
her disdain at the comment.

 “Change your mentality before changing
our clothes because the only thing shocking here is the message comments like
this send to society”, her status on Instagram read.

In her next story, she posted a

“I’ll wear my ripped jeans. Thank you. And I’ll wear them
proudly,” she reportedly captioned the photo.

She took down the stories later.

Before long, she was joined by Actor Gul Panag, who too
expressed her disapproval of the comment with a tweet.

“* Takes out ripped jeans *”, her tweet wrote, without
any visible mention of Rawat’s comment.

The Uttarakhand Chief Minister’s comment came on Tuesday
in a workshop organised by State Commission for Protection of Child Rights.

Rawat went on to describe the attire of a woman who sat next to him on a flight.

He said the woman was wearing boots, jeans ripped at the knees and several bangles in her hands, pointing out that two children were travelling with her.

He had questioned what values she would impart at the same time.
