Shab-e- Barat, which is the night of remembrance is celebrated on the 14th and 15th night of Shabaan month. It is one of the most important festivals of the Muslim community, all across the world.

As per the Islamic calendar, Shab-e-Barat is considered the holiest night, which falls on the eighth months of the Islamic calendar. This year it will start from the evening of March 28, 2021, and will continue till the evening of March 29, 2021.

Shab-e-Barat or Layalat al-Barat is the night of forgiveness and commemorates the day Prophet Mohammad entered the city of Makah. Different have different beliefs. Shia Muslims believe that Shab-e-Kadar is the night when Mohammad al-Mehdi, the last of their “Twelve Imams” was born on this day.

As per the Quran, the holy book of Muslims, on the night of Shab-e-Barat Allah will forgive everyone and will provide food to the one who asks for it. People pray the entire night and it is believed that on this day the destinies of the people are written by Allah taking into account their past deeds. People also read nawafil namaz and ask for Allah’s forgiveness for themselves as well as for their ancestors.

Shab-e-Barat is celebrated with great joy all around the world. People staying up late the night, recite Quran, pray to Allah until dawn. Sometimes male members visit the mosque on this occasion but people mostly stay at home and pray. On this Charity is done with food and money being distributed to the poor.
