Indian shuttler Saina Nehwal on Monday tweeted out the
trailer of her upcoming biopic, while also bringing in the thematic importance
of the International Women’s Day, celebrated annually on March 8. The badminton
star, in her tweet, said that she took inspiration from women around her while
growing up.
“Growing up and looking up to the women around me, I have
always got inspired. This is my chance to inspire a little girl out there to
follow her passion. In cinemas on 26th March. Watch the trailer now”, Nehwal tweeted.
Portrayed by Parineeti Chopra in the titular role, the film narrates
the journey of Nehwal’s life from being a small girl from a Haryana village to
an international badminton sensation rising from India, as well as a subsequent
stint of off-form leading to rising questions and criticism disturbing her
mental state of normalcy.
Titled ‘Saina’, the film, directed by Amole Gupte and
produced by Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar, Sujay Jairaj and Rashesh Shah collaboratively
under the banner of T Series, is set to be released on March 26, 2021.

The shuttler exited the
Swiss Open in its very first round on Wednesday after a 16-21, 21-17, 21-23
loss to Thailand’s Phittayaporn Chaiwan. Her last tournament victory was in
2019 at the Indonesia Masters.
