Indian market indices were trading in the red in the late morning session, although they pared some of their losses. The domestic mood was influenced by negative indications from other Asian markets. The Nikkei 225 fell 461.06 points or 1.58 % to 28,794.49, the Hang Seng fell 75.76 points or 0.29 % to 26,060.26, the Jakarta Composite fell 3.92 points or 0.06 % to 6,652.08, the KOSPI fell 1.43 points or 0.05 % to 3,011.70, and the Straits Times fell 0.30 points or 0.01 % to 3,197.78. On the other hand, the Shanghai Composite rose 16.62 points, or 0.46 %, to 3,603.62, while the Taiwan Weighted rose 24.66 points, or 0.15 %, to 16,912.48.

The BSE Sensex is now trading at 60967.35, down 292.61 points or 0.48 % after fluctuating between 60697.35 and 61621.20. On the index, there were 7 stocks that advanced and 23 stocks that declined.

The wider indexes were trading in the negative, with the BSE Midcap index down 0.63% and the Small-cap index down 0.38%.

The top gaining sectoral indices on the BSE were PSU up by 0.81 %, Oil & Gas up by 0.71 %, Power up by 0.53 %, Bankex up by 0.47 %, and Utilities up by 0.38 %, while the top losing indices on the BSE were IT down by 1.61 %, TECK down by 1.39 %, Consumer Durables down by 1.36 %, Consumer discretionary down by 0.97 %, and Energy down by 0.94 %.

The biggest gainers on the Sensex were Kotak Mahindra Bank, which rose 3.14 %, Power Grid, which rose 1.06 %, HDFC, which rose 0.95 %, NTPC, which rose 0.58 %, and ICICI Bank, which rose 0.42 %. The biggest losers were Dr. Reddy’s Lab, which fell 2.17 %, HCL Tech., which fell 1.98 %, Reliance Industries, which fell 1.73 %, Tech Mahindra, which fell 1.70 %, and TCS, which fell 1.67 %.

The CNX Nifty is presently trading at 18180.50, down 86.10 points or 0.47 % from a high of 18106.65 and a low of 18384.20. On the index, there were 13 stocks that advanced and 37 stocks that declined.

Kotak Mahindra Bank gained 3.05 %, Indian Oil Corp. gained 2.34 %, BPCL gained 2.07 %, Tata Motors gained 1.19 %, and Coal India gained 1.14 % on the Nifty. The biggest losers were HCL Tech., which fell 2.24 %, Dr. Reddy’s Lab, which fell 2.16 %, Tech Mahindra, which fell 2.02 %, Hero MotoCorp, which fell 1.96 %, and TCS, which fell 1.83 %.
