Actor Shekhar Suman and his family was “devastated” after a news channel falsely reported that his son Adhyayan has committed suicide and said he will take legal action against the “unpardonably irresponsible” act.

In a series of tweets, Suman shared a clip of the news footage about his son’s suicide and said “the media ought to be more responsible and not jeopardise (people’s) live and destroy them for their own vested interests.”

In another tweet, Suman said he is “taking legal action against them and suing them for such a reprehensible act.”

The 58-year-old also said he did not accept a “random apology” from one of the channel’s “regular journalist”.

“The bosses shld have some shame and own up to their faux-pas which is deplorable.Imagine if they had done the same to any of the political big-wigs,” he added. 

Adhyayan also reacted to the report through an Instagram post yesterday, saying, “I have not committed suicide !!!!! I’m alive !!! this news is horrendous ! What is wrong with some media houses !!!!!!!!!!!! This is sick you do not have the right to do this to my parents or me ! I’m going to sue you big time ! Better be prepared !!!”

Earlier, the 33-year-old actor had opened up about his mental health issues following his struggles in the movie industry.

Shekhar’s elder son, Aayush, died of a heart disease at the age of 11.
