The%20Uttar%20Pradesh%20government%20on%20Thursday%20went%20all%20out%20to%20prevent%20Congress%20leaders%20Rahul%20Gandhi%20and%20his%20sister%20Priyanka%20Gandhi%20from%20going%20to%20Hathras%20to%20meet%20the%20family%20members%20of%20the%2019-year-old%20Dalit%20girl%2C%20who%20was%20ruthlessly%20brutalised%20and%20gang-raped%20by%20four%20upper%20caste%20men%2C%20before%20she%20died%20in%20Delhi%u2019s%20Safdarjung%20hospital%20where%20she%20was%20finally%20referred%20for%20treatment.
While%20Priyanka%20was%20forced%20to%20return%20from%20Greater%20Noida%2C%20Rahul%20was%20kept%20under%20detention%20for%20sometime%20before%20being%20allowed%20to%20go%20back.
The%20desperation%20with%20which%20the%20UP%20cops%20ensured%20that%20the%20Congress%20leaders%20remain%20away%20from%20the%20victim%u2019s%20village%20reflect%20their%20bid%20to%20refute%20the%20gang-rape%20theory.%20Evidently%2C%20it%20was%20the%20same%20intent%20that%20became%20visible%20in%20the%20haste%20with%20which%20the%20Hathras%20police%20carried%20out%20the%20cremation%20of%20the%20girl%20in%20the%20dead%20of%20the%20night%20%u2013%20when%20they%20also%20moved%20heaven%20and%20earth%20to%20disallow%20any%20family%20member%20from%20attending%20the%20funeral.
States%20additional%20director%20general%20of%20police%20%28law%20and%20order%29%20%26nbsp%3BPrashant%20Kumar%20went%20about%20declaring%2C%20%u201Cthe%20victim%20was%20not%20raped%u201D%2C%20exactly%20in%20the%20same%20manner%20as%20the%20Hathras%20superintendent%20of%20police%20was%20trying%20to%20impress%20upon%20the%20media%20ever%20since%20the%20girl%20breathed%20her%20last%20on%20Tuesday.
The%20UP%20administration%20went%20into%20an%20overdrive%20to%20prove%20that%20the%20girl%20was%20not%20raped%20at%20all%2C%20particularly%20after%20Prime%20Minister%20Narendra%20Modi%20called%20up%20the%20UP%20chief%20minister%20after%20taking%20note%20of%20widespread%20country-wide%20protests%20against%20the%20gang-rape%2C%20which%20even%20reached%20Delhi%u2019s%20India%20Gate.%20No%20wonder%20the%20Delhi%20police%20swung%20into%20action%20no%20sooner%20than%20Bhim%20Army%u2019s%20Chandrashekhar%20reached%20India%20Gate.
The%20victim%20went%20missing%20on%20September%2014%2C%20when%20she%20was%20later%20discovered%20in%20a%20traumatic%20condition%20in%20the%20open%20field%20by%20her%20own%20mother%2C%20following%20which%20she%20was%20rushed%20to%20the%20local%20district%20hospital.%20However%2C%20the%20UP%20chief%20minister%20could%20not%20find%20time%20to%20talk%20to%20the%20victim%u2019s%20father%20online%20only%20as%20late%20as%20on%20September%2030%2C%20after%20the%20wake%20up%20call%20by%20the%20prime%20minister.%20%26nbsp%3B
In%20a%20video%20that%20has%20went%20viral%20today%2C%20Hathras%20district%20magistrate%20Praveen%20Kumar%20is%20seen%20persuading%20the%20victim%u2019s%20father%20to%20change%20his%20statement.%20The%20father%20has%20all%20along%20maintained%20that%20he%20or%20his%20family%20members%20were%20not%20allowed%20to%20even%20have%20a%20glimpse%20of%20the%20poor%20girl%u2019s%20body%20or%20to%20pay%20their%20last%20respects%20to%20her.%20The%20district%20magistrate%2C%20who%20apparently%20went%20there%20with%20the%20chief%20minister%u2019s%20compensation%20package%20%28%20a%20cheque%20of%20Rs%2025%20lakhs%20and%20offer%20of%20a%20government%20job%20to%20one%20family%20member%29%2C%20can%20be%20heard%20telling%20the%20father%2C%20%u201Cthese%20media%20persons%20will%20go%20away%20after%20sometime%3B%20but%20you%20and%20I%20will%20be%20here%2C%20so%20make%20up%20your%20mind%20as%20to%20whether%20you%20will%20change%20your%20statement%20or%20not.%u201D

Samajawadi%20Party%20too%20has%20lashed%20out%20against%20the%20Yogi%20administration%20for%20its%20obvious%20bid%20to%20dilute%20the%20case%20by%20refuting%20the%20deceased%20girl%u2019s%20pointed%20allegation%20of%20gang-rape.%20In%20her%20statement%20from%20the%20hospital%20bed%20in%20Aligarh%2C%20the%20victim%20had%20not%20only%20said%20that%20she%20was%20gang-raped%20but%20had%20also%20named%20four%20young%20men%20belonging%20to%20the%20upper-caste%20Thakur%20community%20as%20the%20rapists.
Hathras%20administration%20was%20going%20out%20of%20its%20way%20to%20give%20the%20case%20a%20twist%20%u2013%20remove%20the%20charge%20of%20gang-rape%20and%20make%20it%20a%20case%20of%20%u201Cold%20enmity%u201D%20between%20the%20families.%20And%20since%20there%20was%20history%20about%20one%20of%20the%20Thakurs%20having%20chopped%20the%20fingers%20of%20the%20girl%u2019s%20grandfather%2C%20because%20his%20buffalo%20was%20caught%20grazing%20in%20the%20Thakur%u2019s%20field%2C%20it%20came%20in%20handy%20for%20the%20police%20to%20build%20the%20%u201Cenmity%u201D%20theory.
Two%20days%20ago%2C%20when%20Hathras%20cops%20chose%20to%20carry%20the%20body%20of%20the%20girl%20from%20the%20Safdarjung%20Hospital%20to%20her%20village%20Boolagarhi%20under%20Chandpa%20police%20circle%20of%20Hathras%20district%2C%20where%20they%20carried%20out%20her%20funeral%20in%20a%20hush-hush%20manner%20at%20about%202.30%20am.%20A%20huge%20posse%20of%20cops%20formed%20a%20human%20chain%20to%20physically%20prevent%20any%20family%20member%20from%20getting%20anywhere%20close%20to%20the%20funeral%20pyre%20that%20was%20prepared%20and%20lit%20by%20the%20men%20in%20khakhi%20themselves.
Umpteen%20videos%20showed%20how%20the%20police%20refused%20to%20pay%20any%20heed%20to%20repeated%20requests%20of%20the%20girl%u2019s%20mother%20and%20father%20to%20let%20the%20girl%u2019s%20body%20be%20taken%20to%20their%20home%20for%20the%20last%20few%20rituals%20that%20are%20customary%20in%20any%20Hindu%20family.%20The%20policemen%20are%20also%20seen%20pushing%20away%20the%20mother%20and%20some%20relatives.
Since%20the%20victim%20belonged%20to%20the%20downtrodden%20Dalit%20community%2C%20the%20cops%20were%20probably%20hoping%20that%20the%20matter%20would%20die%20its%20own%20death.%20After%20all%2C%20the%20victim%20had%20not%20attracted%20much%20media%20attention%20even%20as%20she%20was%20hospitalised%20in%20Hathras%20district%20hospital%2C%20Agra%20Medical%20College%20and%20in%20Aligarh%2C%20where%20her%20condition%20deteriorated%20%26nbsp%3Bfor%20days%20together.%20However%2C%20no%20sooner%20than%20she%20was%20moved%20to%20Delhi%u2019s%20Safdarjung%20Hospital%20where%20she%20arrived%20in%20a%20rather%20critical%20condition%20and%20died%20on%20the%20following%20day%2C%20her%20case%20hit%20the%20spotlight.
