Mumbai wicketkeeper-batsman Aditya Tare on Sunday scored a brilliant ton to set up his side’s six-wicket victory in the Vijay Hazare Trophy final against Uttar Pradesh. 

Tare came in to bat at number three after opener Prithvi Shaw‘s explosive innings was came to an end following a mistimed pull shot, which set up an easy catch for substitute fielder Sameer Rizvi at the backward square leg boundary.

Tare hit 18 boundaries in his 107-ball, 118-run knock. The 33-year-old went off to a brisk start, scoring 23 runs from 16 balls before the dismissal of Yashasvi Jaiswal (29 from 30).

He then forged important partnerships with Shams Mulani (36 from 43) and Shivam Dube (42 from 28) to pull clear of any potential collapses and seal the win with six wickets and 8.3 overs to spare.  

Winning the toss and choosing to bat, Uttar Pradesh scored 312 runs from their 50 overs despite a slow start to their innings. 

Opener Madhav Kaushik scored a brilliant 158 from 156 deliveries with his opening partner Samarth Singh (55) and all-rounder Akshdeep Nath (55) also chipping in with important contributions.
