West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata
Banerjee brought an end to her intense campaigning in Nandigram on Tuesday, as
she accompanied her companions on stage, standing up for the national anthem,
despite a fractured leg forcing her to roam around in a wheelchair for the past
few weeks.

As the last of Banerjee’s marathon
rallies came to an end in Nandigram, she was seen standing up on stage, according to a
video posted on Twitter. The political veteran, after the completion of the
anthem, was assisted to sit back down by party leaders Subrata Bakshi and Dola
Sen.

The contest in Nandigram is
arguably one of the biggest in the ongoing state assembly elections, as
Banerjee, the Trinamool Congress Supremo, looks to take on her former party-aide
and currently BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari, with the latter holding
significant political clout in the district of Purba Medinipur, including
Nandigram.

Banerjee received injuries to her
leg on March 10, after filing her nomination in Nandigram and before leaving
for Kolkata. She has, since then, repeatedly alleged the act on ‘four-five men’,
who reportedly pushed the car door against her leg.
