Adline Quadros Castelino represented India at the 69th Miss Universe competition held at Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Florida on Sunday. The 22-year-old was among the top 5 contestants of the competition that was won by Mexico’s Andrea Meza. 

India, in the past, has won the International pageant twice. Here’s a look at the two pageant’s that saw Indians emerge as toppers.

Sushmita Sen: Sushmita Sen was the first Indian to win the ‘Miss Universe’ title in 1994. She then went on to act in Bollywood movies and worked with some top filmmakers and delivered hits such as Biwi No. 1, Main Hoon Na and Filhaal. She has won several awards for her roles and has now forayed into OTT with her successful venture Arya. 

Lara Dutta: The second Indian to win the ‘Miss Universe’ title, Lara Dutta was crowned in 2000. She also took up Bollywood offers and won the ‘Filmfare Best Female Debut Award’ in 2003 for her role in the film ‘Andaaz’. She has had a pretty successful career in Bollywood.
