Leslie Jones is a 53-year-old American comedian and actor. She is the former cast member of the late-night television show %u2018Saturday Night Live%u2019. Leslie will host this year’s MTV Movie and TV Awards along with fellow comedian Nikki Glaser.

Born on September 7, 1967, Leslie hails from Memphis, Tennessee. She attended high school in Lynwood, California and studied at Chapman University on a basketball scholarship.

Her stand-up comedy career began with her performing at comedy clubs in New York City, but it was not a smooth ride. Leslie received bad reviews for her performances at The Comedy Store and Jamie Foxx’s tour. She then stopped performing for three years.

After Leslie resumed her career, she was spotted by Chris Rock, who helped her get a job at SNL.

In 2013, Leslie joined SNL as a writer. In 2014, she was promoted as a featured player and made her debut on the October 25, 2014, episode hosted by Jim Carrey. By doing so, she became the oldest person to join SNL as a cast member, at the age of 47. In addition to this, the season also made history by including more than one African American female in the cast. In 2019, Leslie left SNL.

The comedian has starred in several films, including %u2018Master P%u2019, %u2018Top Five%u2019, %u2018reboot Ghostbusters%u2019 and %u2018Coming 2 America%u2019.
