Park Ji-min, best known by his stage name Jimin, is a Big
Hit Music-signed South Korean singer-songwriter and record producer. He is a
BTS dancer and vocalist.

Jimin was born in the Geumjeong District of Busan, South
Korea
, on October 13, 1995.

During middle school, Jimin learnt the popping and locking
dance. He studied modern dance at Busan High School of Arts before becoming a
trainee.

In 2012, he passed the Big Hit Entertainment auditions.

With the release of the song “No More Dream” on
June 13, 2013, Jimin made his debut as a BTS member. He has three solo
songs: “Lie,” “Serendipity,” and “Filter,” all
released under the BTS banner. Wings’ “Serendipity” and
“Lie” both topped fifty million Spotify streams in 2018, as part of
the group’s second Korean studio album.

With “Serendipity,” Jimin became the first BTS
member to reach 100 million views on YouTube with a solo music video in May
2019. It was the sixteenth BTS music video to reach a million views
mark.

In the January 2020 edition of the Official Chart’s top
40 list, Jimin was the only BTS member having multiple solo singles.

With over 2.2 million streams in its first 24 hours of
release, “Filter” established a record for the largest streaming
debut among all Korean singles on Spotify, and went on to become the quickest
Korean solo in Spotify history to reach 20–60 million listens.

Jimin’s first solo single outside of BTS releases, “Promise,”
was published for free on BTS’ SoundCloud website on December 30, 2018. 

On January 3, 2019, the platform reported that
“Promise” has broken the record for the largest 24-hour debut.

In 2018, the President of South Korea honoured Jimin and
other members of BTS with the fifth-class Hwagwan Order of Cultural Merit for
their contributions to the advancement of Korean culture.

In the same year, Jimin was the world’s ninth most-tweeted
celebrity and the eighth most-tweeted musician in the world.
