Renowned magician OP Sharma has died aged 49. On Saturday, October 15, he passed away in a hospital in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh, where he was admitted due to complications from a kidney disease. He is survived by his wife Meenakshi Sharma, daughter Renu, and three sons, namely, Prem Prakash Sharma, Satya Prakash Sharma, and Pankaj Prakash Sharma.

With the passing of OP Sharma, an era of Indian magic has come to an end.
Keshav Prasad Maurya, the deputy chief minister of Uttar Pradesh, expressed his grief and condolences. He expressed his grief in a post on Twitter:
“Received sad news about the demise of decades’ one-man show of magic, world-famous magician, Kanpur resident OP Sharma Ji”, the tweet read.
Who was OP Sharma?
Om Prakash Sharma, also referred to as O. P. Sharma or Jadugar (Magician), was an international entertainer, popular magician and renowned master of illusion from India. Sharma was born and brought up in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh. Though his birth date is unknown, the magician was born in the year 1973.
Sharma started learning magic when he was only five years old and started performing at seven. Later, he earned a degree in mechanical engineering.
According to Bookmyshow, he had a career as a magician for over 42 years and had performed around 36,000 shows or more, in India and internationally.
OP Sharma was a resident of Barra, in Kanpur’s Bhoot Bungalow. The tickets for his shows always managed to get sold out very rapidly.

Whenever the magician went to a city to conduct a presentation, a convoy of more than 100 people accompanied him. His crew included a large number of collaborators, including painters, musicians, singers, make-up artists, lighting designers, and tailors. All of OP Sharma’s cargo could fit into more than 16 trucks when he moved from one location to another, according to Zee News.
