Delhi Police special cell on Saturday arrested an alleged
ISIS operative from central Delhi’s Ridge Road area and averted a major terror
strike. The alleged operative was arrested after a brief exchange of fire. PS Kushwah, DCP,
Special Cell said that the arrested person, Mohammad Mustakim Khan, alias Abu
Yusuf Khan, was from a village in Uttar Pradesh.

A day after the arrest, Kafeel Ahmed, father of the alleged
operative said that he regrets that his son was involved in such activities and
would’ve stopped him had he known about it, news agency ANI reported.

“I regret he was involved in such activities. I wish he
could be forgiven for once if possible, but his act is wrong. Had I known about
his activities I would have asked him to leave us,” ANI quoted his father as
saying.

The two IEDs seized from him were fully ready and just
needed to be activated with a timer, police said.

“He had stored gunpowder and other materials at home here. When I told him he should not do such things, he told me that I should not stop him. I wish he could be forgiven. I have four kids. Where will I go?” ANI quoted the wife of suspected ISIS operative arrested in Delhi as saying

A bomb disposal team of the National Security Guard (NSG) used  a robot pick up the bomb and a TCV (total
containment vessel) to defuse the bomb in a controlled environment.

The controlled blast was carried out at the Gautam Buddha park in Dhaula Kuan.

The alleged operative was booked under the Unlawful
Activities (Prevention) Act and sent to eight days of police remand. According to
a report in PTI, he will be taken to different places in Uttar Pradesh,
including Balrampur, for further investigation, officials said.
