The ISIS operative arrested in Delhi on Friday night following a brief exchange of fire in
the Dhaula Kuan area was planning to attack high footfall areas, reported ANI.

Giving
details, DCP Special Cell, Delhi, told ANI that 36-year-old man has been
identified as Yusuf aka Abu Yusuf and has various alias.  “We have  recovered pressure cooker IEDs from him and he
was planning to install them at heavy footfall area here,” said the DCP.

The
police official added that he was directly in contact of ISIS commanders. “He was earlier
handled by Yusuf Alhindi, who was killed in Syria. Later, Abu Huzafa of Pakistan was handling him. Huzafa was later killed in drone strike in
Afghanistan,” said the DCP.

National Security Guard and bomb squad also neutralised two
pressure-cooker IEDs recovered from him. “He was also communicating with Islamic State operatives in Khorasan Province. He told the police that he tested the explosive device
at his village few months ago.” 

The police official
said that he was planning an attack in Delhi on Independence Day but due to tight security arrangements, he was not successful. His movement was restricted due to COVID-19 pandemic.

According to a
report in PTI, security checks have been intensified along the Delhi border in
Uttar Pradesh’s Noida.

Vehicles and
passengers moving to and fro Delhi are being checked at the border, while
Gautam Buddh Nagar district is also on alert mode, Noida Deputy Commissioner of
Police Rajesh S said.

Senior police
officers also assessed security checks in the district bordering Delhi.
