On the occasion of Army Day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended his wishes to the Indian soldiers, veterans, and their families, and lauded their bravery and courage. 

“Best wishes on the occasion of Army Day, especially to our courageous soldiers, respected veterans and their families. The Indian Army is known for its bravery and professionalism. Words cannot do justice to the invaluable contribution of the Indian Army towards national safety,” the PM wrote on Twitter along with sharing photos of the army personnel from the ground.

In another tweet, PM Modi acknowledged the Army’s courage to serve in hostile terrains and the freezing cold.

“Indian Army personnel serve in hostile terrains and are at the forefront of helping fellow citizens during humanitarian crisis, including natural disasters. India is proud of the stellar contribution of the Army in Peacekeeping Missions overseas as well,” he wrote. 

President of India, Ram Nath Kovind, also extended his greetings on the occasion. He tweeted, “Greetings to Army personnel and veterans on Army Day. Indian Army has been pivotal in ensuring national security. Our soldiers have displayed professionalism, sacrifice and valour in defending borders and maintaining peace. The nation is grateful for your service. Jai Hind!”

Several politicians and celebrities took to social media to thank the Army for its sacrifices. Cricketer Yuvraj Singh wrote, “Forever indebted to the brave & valiant personnel and the families of the #IndianArmy. Thank you for safeguarding our beloved nation”.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh also wished the personnel, saying, “Our Army has distinguished itself as a courageous and professional force, unwavering in their commitment to defend the country. The nation is proud of the Indian Army.”

Congress leader Shashi Tharoor tweeted, “Greetings to Indian Army personnel and their families on #ArmyDay.

The nation salutes the Indian Army’s indomitable courage, valour and sacrifices. Their dedication, discipline and selfless service to the motherland is an inspiration to all countrymen.

Indian Army Day is observed every year on January 15 to honour soldiers and their families for their bravery, courage, and sacrifices.

This year, on the 74th Army Day, the new digital combat uniform will be revealed. The decision to introduce the change in apparel was taken at an Army Commanders’ Conference, which took place in October 2021. As per government officials, the new uniform will be showcased in the Army Day parade and features digital disruptive patterns.
