“Fashion
has a greater purpose to serve and that it’s one of the strongest mediums out
there to bring about social changes in our society” says the 24-year-old blogger and fashion activist Aishwarya Sharma who is revolutionizing
the way one perceives fashion Industry

“I
had realised it very early in my life that fashion has a greater purpose to
serve and that it’s one of the strongest mediums out there to bring about
social changes in our society. I wanted people to look up to fashion not because
of how it can make them look but rather how it will make them feel. Elevated,
Embraced, Aware,” Aishwarya told Opoyi.

As
an Influencer who has joined the United Nations campaign called #TOGETHERBAND to raise the voice of the inequalities in the society, Aishwarya elucidates that gender inequality in India is at
an all-time high

“…and
being a girl in this society comes with a lot of prejudices, discrimination and
increasing crimes against girls and women is one such concern. I have been
working with these young girls at the ground level and I have an understanding
of the misery and bigger issue we are facing as a class. Young girls and women
in this country are constantly under a threat and that’s what I want people to
know,” she said.

“If
not now, when?” I have lived by this quote all these years of finding my voice
as an activist and this safe space of activism I have built. Now, we also have
social media to enable our voices. It has given us a medium of a very large
scale and I’m using mine for social good. I want everyone to feel welcomed on
my platform, no discrimination.

“You
see, what good is Fashion if it lacks the social abilities and discriminates?”
she said.
