Do you know that the world’s second-richest person, the CEO of Tesla and SpaceX, lives in a rented house worth $50,000? Yes, you heard it right. Elon Musk, whose net worth is approximately $185 billion, in a tweet revealed that he lives in a rented house by SpaceX in Boca Chica Village, Texas.

The Tesla CEO on Wednesday replied to a tweet that said, ”

Elon Musk lives very modestly by billionaire standards. Only 1 residential house (plus 1 for events).”

To this, Elon Musk replied, saying that his primary home is a $50,000 house in Boca Chica/Starbase that he rents from SpaceX.

A day later, a tweet by username Tesla Owners of Silicon Valley went viral. The tweet had a video showing a prefabricated home by the housing startup Boxabl, and it speculated that the SpaceX owner might live in this type of house. The 50-year-old billionaire said, replying to the tweet, “I do live in a $50k house, but not this specific one.”

Last week, Teslarati reported that it has received a tip that Elon Musk lives in a Boxable Casita, which is a 375-square foot house with a kitchen, a bedroom, and bathroom, and the rent of the same starts at $49,500.

Boxable in November last year posted a video of a unit it was building in Texas’ Boca Chica. It said that the house was for a ‘top-secret customer.’ The house’s door had a poster of a Falcon 9, which is a partially reusable rocket built by SpaceX.

Last year in May, Elon Musk tweeted that he will “own no house,” and five weeks later, his five houses were listed for sale. Elon Musk earlier in June this year revealed that he now only owns one house in San Francisco Bay Area and is waiting for it to be sold.

Elon Musk said that the house “needs to go to a large family who will live there,” because “it’s a special place.”
