Even though the true origin of the National Margarita Day, celebrated on February 22 every year, has a lot of different versions, most people believe that the day is simply meant to celebrate the drink, which many enjoy on a regular basis.

The first recorded versions of the drink are assumed to be invented between 1930 and 1940 and later divided into other variants which are enjoyed today. The newer versions of the drink, which was accidentally invented by a bartender who converted a soft-serve icecream machine into a margarita dispenser in the 1970s,  is filled with crushed ice while the glass is lined with a thin layer of salt to give it an extra kick of taste.

A lot more versions of Margarita are now being enjoyed by people all over the world, with slight tweaks made in the recipe depending on the regions and local taste. A few of the more popular flavors include Pomegranate Margarita, Blackberry Margarita, Mango Margarita, Strawberry Margarita and Raspberry Margarita.
