A modern-day legend for the Cincinnati Bengals has officially concluded his career as a Bengal.

The Bengals shared an announcement on their social media channels on Saturday, confirming that former wide receiver A.J. Green has retired as a member of the Bengals. Green himself took to Instagram to share the news, captioning a post with “Retired a Bengal today! Made it official…”

Green will make a return to the Cincinnati area for the team’s first “Ruler of the Jungle” event during their Week 2 matchup against the Baltimore Ravens. The “Ruler of the Jungle” tradition, which began in 2021, involves a devoted Bengals fan or a former Bengal taking on the role of the day’s honorary leader. They sit on a Bengals-themed throne and lead the fans in the iconic “Who Dey” chant just before the game kicks off.
