Kris Murray was selected by the Portland Trail Blazers as the 23rd pick of the 2023 NBA Draft on Thursday. His brother Keegan plays for the Sacramento Kings.

Kris and Keegan Murray are twin brothers. They were born on August 19, 2000. Their parents are Kenyon and Michelle Murray and siblings – Mckenna and Demetrius Harper.

Mckenna is Kris and Keegan’s elder sister. Kenyon played basketball at the University of Iowa. He adopted Demetrius Harper after the birth of his daughter.

Kris Murray played college basketball for the Iowa Hawkeyes. His twin brother Keegan was selected as the fourth overall pick last year. This is the first time since 1970 and 1971 that Iowa had two players selected in the first round in back-to-back years. John Johnson and Fred Brown were the other two.

Kris Murray became the 11th first-rounder from Iowa, the fifth in 30 years. He had third-team All-America honors this past season. He averaged 20.2 points per game, rebounded 7.9 and blocked 1.2 per game. He was named a semifinalist for the Wooden and Naismith Awards.

The Murray brothers graduated from Cedar Rapids Prairie.
