The celebrations came to a halt soon when the hosts chose to review the delivery and it was declared a no ball. The controversial decision snatched victory from the hands of the women in blue. Several Indian supporters took to social media platforms to cite their displeasure. Some believe that the ball was dipping and hence should not have been pronounced a no ball.

India’s batters had done a good job and put up a good total of 274 runs on the board. Smriti Mandhana just missed out on her century when she was caught by Beth Mooney on Tahlia McGrath’s delivery on 86 runs.

Mooney guided the Aussies to victory with an unbeaten knock of 125 runs. One of the greatest matches of women’s cricket in recent memory went from jubilation for the Indians to dejection in their camp.

It has been recorded as the third highest run chase in Women’s ODIs. In a match where India must be praised for putting up a good fight, they need to be criticised for their poor fielding as well. They let the Australians get away with a
lot of easy runs which ended up haunting the women in blue in the end.
