A 23-year-old batsman critically injured a fielder after hitting him with his bat for taking a catch and getting him out at 49, PTI reported. The incident took place during a cricket match in Madhya Pradesh’s Gwalior on Saturday.
After getting out at 49, the batsman, Sanjay Paliya, got furious and rushed towards the fielder, identified as Sachin Parashar, before hitting him on the head with his bat.

“Paliya got angry after Parashar took his catch and got him out on 49, just one run short of a half century,” City Superintendent of Police Ramnaresh Pachouri said, PTI reported.
Parashar was rushed to a local hospital in critical condition and the batsman was charged with attempt to murder.

“Parashar continues to be unconscious in hospital,” Pachouri said.
Paliya absconded from the place and efforts were on to nab him, the CSP said.
